Black Licorice is about building a pipeline: seeding Indonesia’s next 25 serious maternal health NGOs—not just in NTT, but across the country, including Sumatra, Kalimantan and West Papua.

Most local NGOs are underpowered: The sector is full of underfunded, poorly governed groups—Black Licorice bets on those with grit and promise, teaching them what “great” looks like (budgets where you know the price of soap, real governance, not just box-checking).

Because founders & CEOs in the maternal health and malnutrition space here in Indonesia remain unseen, unheard & underfunded, we give fellows the tools & confidence to build boards, budgets, strategies, governance & KPIs needed to entice institutional donors & unrestricted, multi-year funding.

Over the next 5 years we welcome 25 fellows, taking $20K bets on each, & forging them to be best-in-class.
